In the last part of our reprocessing series we want to inform you about the manual reprocessing procedure of your KaVo instruments. In the end you can download the complete reprocessing poster.

External cleaning - Manual reprocessing process1. External cleaning

Brush off any residual cement, composite and blood under running tap water.

Accessories required:

  • Tap water 30° C ± 5°C
  • medium-hard toothbrush

Validated manual interior cleaning (residual protein removal) with the KaVo CLEANspray 2110 P*

  • Cover the instrument with the KaVo Cleanpac bag
  • Position the instrument on the corresponding servicing adapter
  • Hold the can vertically and press the spray button 3 times for 2 seconds each time
  • Allow to take effect for 1 minute

If the internal and external disinfection not immediately follows after cleaning the instrument, please dry the instrument with KaVo DRYspray.

KaVo recommends the following medical devices based on the compatibility of the materials:

  • Mikrozid AF from Schülke & Mayr (Liquid or Wipes)
  • FD 322 from Dürr
     
  • Follow the instructions for use of the disinfectant
  • Spray the disinfectant onto a cloth and wipe down the instrument
  • Allow the disinfectant to act according to the instructions of the disinfectant manufacturer

KaVo recommends the following disinfectant based on the compatibility of the materials: WL-cid from ALPRO.

  • Cover the instrument with the KaVo Cleanpac bag
  • Position the instrument on the corresponding servicing adapter
  • Hold the can vertically and press the spray button for at least 3 seconds
  • Allow to take effect for 2 minutes
  • Follow the instructions for use of the disinfectant

Hazard due to incomplete disinfection

The disinfection procedures used must be verified to have bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal effects. If the disinfectants used do not offer the prescribed characteristics, the process must be concluded with disinfection of devices in an unpacked condition in the steriliser.

Drying the air, water and gear unit ducts with the KaVo DRYspray 2117 P*

  • Cover the instrument with the KaVo Cleanpac bag
  • Position the instrument on the corresponding
  • Hold the can vertically and press the spray once for 3-5 seconds
  • Oil the instrument immediately after drying

Care spray for optimum care with the KaVo Spray 2112 A

  • Reprocess the instrument after every application, i.e. after every cleaning, disinfection and prior to every sterilization
  • Cover the instrument with the Cleanpac bag
  • Plug the instrument onto the connection set
  • Press the spray button for 1-2 seconds


Separate head care

For optimum care, remove the heads from the reducing shank and treat for 1-2 seconds with a corresponding servicing adapter.


Cuck servicing with KaVo Spray

Chuck servicing - Manual reprocessing processKaVo recommends to care of the chuck systems once a week.

  • Spray with the tip of the spray wrench into the opening of the chuck
  • Press the spray button for 1-2 seconds
